In its second decade of service and advocacy, Autism Alliance of Michigan is leading a movement to defend the civil and human rights of autistic people. The Alliance affirms that people on the spectrum – along with all Michiganders with disabilities – were born with unalienable rights denied to so many by intractable social-political forces that must be overcome. We need your support to keep the momentum going. Every day, AAoM works with people touched by autism who are facing significant barriers to their rights such as:

• A parent struggling to understand why her child doesn’t speak, laugh or seek engagement like her other children, yet can’t act on these concerns without access to effective health and developmental screenings.
• A job applicant denied the opportunity to secure a highly desirable position because the employer lacks ADA compliant hiring and recruiting processes.
• A student with autism, sent home to “learn” virtually because behavior supports were denied in the classroom, which could have been the difference between full inclusion and the critical social opportunities that lead to life-long friendships.
